May 30th, 2008 by Phones Review

Ok you Windows Mobile loving people who are simply eager to get your hands on the HTC Touch Diamond, here’s an aspect that may get you even more excited, and you may have misses in the multitude of online spec rundowns, and that is the HTC Touch Diamond is actually having a customised version of Opera 9.5.

Some minor adjustments have been made to Opera 9.5 so the HTC Touch Diamond can function properly with proper alignment of web sites and single handed navigation. Plus there’s a “reflow” system which stops the “left and right” browsing needed to view paragraphs within websites. Another thing is it will even go head-to-head with the Apple iPhone’s accelerometer, and actually does a cartwheel when turned on its side to view landscape.

May 30th, 2008 by Phones Review

It would seem that Windows Mobile, mobile phone manufacturers are on the rage what with Sony Ericsson and their XPERIA X1, HTC and their HTC Touch Diamond, and now it looks like Samsung is preparing to bring their own Windows Mobile phone dubbed “iPhone answer” the i900 handset.

The momentum is certainly building for Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform, and when all those mobile phones that have been mentioned actually picking one may put a strain in the brain. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 does have that large display screen and ultra useful QWERTY keyboard, but Both the Samsung i900 and the HTC Touch Diamond are more compact.

So given the choice of these three Windows Mobile phones which do you think you would choose? Would it be the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 with its large display, or the sleek, and sexy all black HTC Touch Diamond perhaps, or would you prefer the Samsung “Iphone answer” i900 with its stylishly iphone like appearance? The choice is yours, but will you be able to make the decision with ease?

First ever Blu-Ray record Divertimenti released is Norwegian? Trondheimsolistene the Trondheim soloists

May 30th, 2008 by Mark

divertimenti
The latest news in the way of Blu-ray is that of Norwegian record label 2L releasing the first ever in the world a Blu-Ray record, oh and it’s Norwegian. “Divertimenti” is a milestone in many ways and it’s the 50th record release which marks the 20th anniversary of the Trondheim soloist whose concert in Selbu Church is captured on “Divertimenti.”

It is a label that is always at the forefront technologically, 2L (Linberg Lyd) found the occasion right to make “Divertimenti” a milestone also in format. Moving onto the Blu-ray technology, it makes use of five separate sound tracks which are complex indeed with a mixture of complex recording and mixing process which as been condition by very sophisticated equipment, 2L has cooperated with equipment manufacturers and the record now available is the fruit of a combined effort opening up new vistas of sound rendition. This is something special that is nothing you have ever heard before.

You will hear that each instrument has been clearly positioned which creates a multidimensional listening experience of stunning clarity and obviously with many not having the proper equipment to play Blu-ray discs you will never hear the clarity, this new release also includes a SACD disc, playable on all standard CD players and computers. Trondheimsolistene known as the Trondheim soloists is said to be one or the finest orchestras in Norway and under the leadership of Øyvind Gimse they have developed something special into an ensemble of international renown, and undertaken successful tours all over Europe, in America, Japan and Brazil.

The repertoire on “Divertimenti” is as follows: Bejamnin Britten: Simple Symphony,
Grazyna Bacewicz: Concerto for string orchestra, Terje Bjørklund: Carmina and Béla Bartók: Divertimento for strings.

Comcast homepage and webmail Hackers did warn company: Hijackers are Defiant & EBK

May 30th, 2008 by Mark

comcast hackers
We have an update for you about Comcast, yesterday we reported the news “Comcast Email Hacked: Webmail security issues, comcast.net site is back up” (See Here), well today we want to let you know that the Comcast hijackers did indeed warn the company. We know that these computer hackers took down Comcast’s webmail and homepage service for around about five hours on Thursday and they said they did not know what they were getting themselves into.

The hackers known as “Defiant” and “EBK” are indeed in serious trouble and “Defiant” whose first name is James said he wished he was a minor because this is going to be really bad, James is 19. The hackers are members of an underground group called Kryogeniks, neither hacker would give their full names or their locations but what we have found out via a source is that Defiant’s MySpace profile lists him in Cashville, Tennessee, but obviously he says this is not correct, his girlfriend lists herself as being in New York. The attack began on Tuesday according to the hackers and the two hijackers used a combination of social engineering and a technical hack to get into Comcast’s domain management console at Network Solutions, they did not give out technical details of their technique but did say it was relied on a flaw at the Virginia-based domain registrar.

Once the hackers were in they had control of over 200 domain names which are owned by Comcast, the hackers changed the contact info for one of them from Comcast.net, to Defiant’s e-mail address and for the street address they used the “Dildo Room” at “69 Dick Tard Lane.” Comcast however did say they noticed the administrative transfer and wrested back control, which forced the hackers to repeat the exploitation to regain ownership of the domain and then the hackers contacted Comcast’s original technical contact at his home number to tell him what they’d done. So as you see they did warn them. When the hackers called Comcast the manager scoffed at their claim and this is when he hung up on them, EBK who is 18 then took even more harsh action and redirected the Comcast site’s traffic to servers under their control, the funny thing is “Apparently” Comcast would not confirm nor deny they warning phone call.

Apparently EBK the hacker said “”If he wasn’t such a prick, he could have avoided all of that,” says EBK. “I wasn’t even really thinking. Plus, I’m just so mad at Comcast. I’m tired of their shitty service.” The defacement message was short and simple: “KRYOGENICS Defiant and EBK RoXed Comcast,” it read. “sHouTz to VIRUS Warlock elul21 coll1er seven.”

Obviously and of course is now more apparent, Defiant and EBK do not like Comcast.

Yesterday when we reported this news to you we had a comment sent in by Charlie Douglas at Comcast saying “Charlie from Comcast here — last night users attempting to access Comcast.net were temporarily redirected to another site by an unauthorized person. While that issue has been resolved and customers have continued to have access to the Internet and email through services like Outlook, some customers are currently not able to access Comcast.net or Webmail. We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers, and network engineers are working to resolve the issue.
We believe that our registration information at the vendor that registers the Comcast.net domain address was altered, which redirected the site, and is the root cause of today’s continued issues as well. We have alerted law enforcement authorities and are working in conjunction with them.”

What are your views on this?

Hands-on: XXX Alpha Dog GeForce 9600GT Graphics Card from XFX

May 30th, 2008 by Daniel

This is the XXX Alpha Dog GeForce 9600GT graphics card from XFX, it’s fast and offers an awesome bundle. The only problem would be justifying the high cost of this card. XFX have not released a product in a while and now they are back with a 9600GT and this model is far from ordinary, you can put this version of the 9600GT at the top of its class.

Tweak town have given the Alpha Dog GeForce 9600GT a hands-on review and covered the results over 17 pages, in their final thoughts they said, “The 9600GT from XFX is nothing short of blistering fast. It’s really able to nip at the heels of the more expensive 8800GT 1GB most of the time. Performance is what this card is all about and it does a damn good job at it. What’s also surprising is the impressive bundle; with a full version copy of Company of Heroes and a few extra goodies it really does stand out from the pack.

Not everything is perfect with the card though; the aftermarket cooler is loud and doesn’t cool as well as the stock ones. If XFX wanted to stay with a single slot design, we probably would have opted to stay with the reference cooler which is pretty good.

The other downfall to the product is the price; it’s one of the most expensive 9600GT cards on the market. Only you will be able to justify the cost to performance. For the price, you’re entering the realm of 512MB 8800GTs with stock clocks.

There’s no doubt however that if you’re looking for the fastest 9600GT on the market, this is the card to get. We do wonder though that at this price point your money may possibly be better spent on a different model.”

Read the 17 page hands-on review.

I-O Data Keyboard for Mobile Phone

May 30th, 2008 by webmaster

I-O Data has released a small keyboard for easy-typing on your mobile phone. It connects to your mobile phone through Bluetooth. Well, it’s still small for my fingers but at least it’s still better than the mini QWERTY on the phone. More pictures after the jump.

Technosailor.TV: Saturday Nights at 9pm

May 30th, 2008 by Aaron Brazell

After a few weeks of messing around and getting comfortable in the video streaming game, we’ve had a lot of fun and a good deal of attention. It’s been fun. I’ve learned some things too - namely that these things can easily go over three hours if there’s no structure.

So, I’ll be streaming every Saturday from 9-11pm (eastern).

The format I’m going to play with will be:

Mixx Minutes
My new favorite local company, Mixx, has some great stories. This will resemble the Diggnation show without Kevin Rose, Alex Albrecht or Digg. ;-) I’ll talk these stories over with you all as we goo, so get your webcams and uStream logins and passwords all brushed off.

Special Guest
Don’t know who this is yet - but open to suggestions. Who do you want to see? Otherwise, I’ll find someone interesting on Twitter. :-)

Audience Conversations
The rest of the show will be a mish-mash of audience topics and conversations. The end of the show always gets the most fun. Last time, I pitched Andrew Hyde on a business model he stole and created VCWear from. ;-)

So, come on by on Saturday night. It’s bring your own beverages - let’s have a good time.

Funny Video: Firecracker Wake Up Prank

May 30th, 2008 by webmaster

I never want to sleep first whenever I’m out camping with my friends. Because I know they are going to do some sh*t on me. There’s one time I got my underwear with toothpaste and the other time was face drawn using some permanent marker. Lol. The video I’m going to show you now is about a wake up prank, I bet some of you have watched it as the video is uploaded one year ago. This is the worst prank ever seen, a firecracker wake up prank. Never try this on your friend. Video after the break.
