30 Inch Apple Cinema Display ROCKS!

September 19th, 2008 by Amit

You know know what blows my mind?

When a super affiliate will spend TONS of money on their home entertainment system and their car, but they’ll start budgeting when it comes to their office.

If you’re going to spend most of your waking hours in front of your computer, why not have the best computer and office setup money can buy? Or at least the best you can afford if you’re not yet a super affiliate.

Not only do you want to be comfortable and enjoy the time you spend working in front of the computer, but studies have shown that upgrading to a 30 inch monitor or multiple monitors can significantly increase your productivity.

Once I heard that I immediately bought a 30 inch Apple Cinema screen, check it out :

Btw, I just recently upgraded to this 30 inch screen and I gotta tell you.

I LOVE IT!

It really has significantly improved my productivity, now I’m seriously thinking of getting a SECOND 30 inch Cinema display. Only problem is I need to get a bigger desk first! LOL

I also upgraded to a real keyboard; the tiny apple wireless keywords suck!

Let’s flashback and see how I used to work :

This was my setup when I first started my affiliate business. What’s REALLY sad is that even after I went full time as a super affiliate, and I had the money to majorly upgrade, I was still using the same setup for almost a year!?!

My business paid a HUGE price for this, in terms of lost productivity, increased stress levels, etc, etc…

Do NOT make this mistake.

Does your work environment need a serious upgrade?

One Key Skill Needed to Succeed at Affiliate Marketing…

September 19th, 2008 by Amit

There’s one key skill that you absolutely must possess if you want to succeed, long term, at affiliate marketing.

Do you know what that is?

If there’s just one skill you needed in the next 5 years, or even 10 years, to succeed, what would it be?

It’s the ability to adopt to change.

Think back to how different ppc affiliate marketing was just few short years ago:

  1. No Google Slaps
  2. 0.05 min bids on ALL keywords regardless of how poorly your adgroups were structured or how untargetted your ads were.
  3. Keywords were only dissabled if your CTR was below 0.5%
  4. No one url rule. 10 different affiliates could direct link to the same offer on the same keywords and ALL show up!

Some of you veterans remember those days! Many sees those days as the glory days of ppc affiliate marketing. Lots of affiliates were making obscene amounts of money back then.

Look at things today, it’s a totally different world : periodic Google slaps, increasing bid prices, Google aggressively cracking down on thin affiliate sites, one url rule, etc…

All these changes happened in just a few years! The smart affiliates adopted to the changes, and shifted their strategy. These affiliate continue to make boat loads of money.

Sadly, many affiliate did not adopt and are either making a fraction of what they did in the old days or had their businesses totally wiped out.

Now in light of all the change to ppc affiliate world in the past couple years, I want you to step back and imagine how different the game will be 5 years from now!

My guess is very different.

Will you be ready?

Here’s a better question to ask yourself : What’s the best way to be ready?

I would have to say the best way to be ready is to anticipate the changes coming to ppc affiliate marketing. That is, you need to start building your business in such a way that you won’t be hit with future Google slaps, that you’ll be ready for increasing competition from more savvy advertisers and affiliates.

I have a highly refined system to building and launching affiliate campaigns, it’s a system that I’m continually looking for ways of improving. That incremental improvement will keep me one step ahead of the competition, as competition gets more fierce.

I’m anticipating change.

As far as creating value added sites that Google wants, my team goes WAY overboard.

Why?

Because again we’re anticipating change.

Do you have a system in place to continually adopt, grow, and improve your affiliate marketing methods and strategies? If not you’re at best falling behind, or at worst you’re dead in the water.

Why Your Affiliate Business Needs Momentum…

August 28th, 2008 by Amit

This is an idea I’ve touched on in the past, and in this post I really want to hit on how to build momentum and why it’s SOOO important.

I want you to think of your affiliate marketing business as a big boulder. Now your goal is to become a super affiliate.

How do you hit that goal?

You have to push the boulder over a hill and super affiliate success and riches are waiting for you at the bottom of the other side of the hill.

Now it’s going to take A LOT of energy and effort in the beginning when you’re trying to get that boulder up to the top of the that hill.

But once you get the boulder to the top of the hill the rest is easy, because now all you have to do is push your boulder DOWNHILL. As you push it downhill it will gain more and more speed until you don’t have to push it at all!

At which point you’re a super affiliate with a massive income on virtual autopilot.

Unfortunately most affiliates do not apply enough energy to even move the boulder, let alone get it to the top of the mountain. The affiliates that do successfully move the boulder often times decide to call it quits just before they reach the top of the hill!

If only they had applied just a little bit more energy in pushing the boulder!

Here’s how you apply enough energy to your boulder so that it hits the top of the hill:

  1. Launch at least 5-8 campaigns a month consistently and LEARN from the ones that fail as well as the ones that succeed. This is SO critical when you’re in the momentum building phase. The more campaigns you launch a month the more energy you’re applying to the boulder. If you’re only launch one campaign a month and spend all your time time try to make it work, then you’re NOT applying enough energy to even move the boulder.
  2. Stay consistent, don’t launch 8 campaigns one month and zero the next. If you do this your boulder will start moving backwards!

Now once you get your boulder to the top of the mountain the rest is just a matter of adding fuel to the fire by scaling & building up the profitable campaigns you’ve found. This is the FUN part! )

Are You applying enough energy to the boulder so that it’s moving up the mountain, or are you just scratching your heads trying to figure out why the boulder isn’t moving?

Quick Update on Microsoft Adcenter Desktop Tool

August 2nd, 2008 by Amit

About a month ago I talked about the New Microsoft Adcenter Desktop Tool. I was one of a handful of advertisers who got access to the beta release of this tool.

The major limitation of the first beta release of this tool was that you couldn’t download stats! Well, Microsoft just released a new version of this tool with stats downloading capabilities. )

After playing around with newly updated Adcenter Desktop I figure out how to optimize the bids on all of my 20k active keywords based on CPA data, all in about 30 minutes. I don’t have the time to get into details of how I did this, however I can tell you this: the trick is to output all the data into an Excel file and then use the 3rd part import feature to upload your changes in the program.

Unfortunately, this tool is not yet avaliable to the public, however, if you want to apply to beta test this tool go here.

I suspect Microsoft will releasing this tool to the general public very soon, it’s looking REALLY good.

Now it’s time for Yahoo to come out with a desktop tool!

Beware of Simple System for Affiliate Profits

July 30th, 2008 by Amit

There’s a lot of products on the market promising a push button simple system to building a profitable ppc affiliate campaign. These products usually consist of a software program that do most of the work and a simple step by step tutorial to walk you through how to use the system.

Now I’m not saying that these program don’t work, in fact, for the point of our discuss lets assume that these programs do work.

Let’s take a deeper look at this: do you think any simple push button system for making online will last? If there’s a 1000 affiliate using the same system do you think it will effect your profit margins?

Moreover, how easy do you think it will be for someone to copy everything you’ve done if it’s all based on simple system anyone can go out and purchase? Do you have any real competitive advantage.

These types of easy money affiliate products are designed for newbie opportunity seekers who are looking to make a quick buck. I don’t know a single super affiliate who uses these programs.

What’s your goal here? To build a long term sustainable business or make a fast buck?

A long term sustainable affiliate business is based on a unique strategy that YOU develop, something that cannot be easily ripped off. Yeah, some dummy may be able to rip off your landing page and even some of your keywords. But any ppc super affiliate who’s worth their salt knows there’s WAY more to building a successful affiliate campaign then landing pages and keywords.

The entire focus on my affiliate business is to, develop strategies, and focus on markets, that will yield long term profits. This is why I’m VERY selective as to what offers I promote, and I’m continually developing was to improve my processes for building and optimizing affiliate campaigns.

I don’t care if you’re just starting out, focus on building a long term business and ignore the sirens of fast affiliate profits with no work or thought necessary.

Have You Seen Dark Knight Yet?

July 22nd, 2008 by Amit

For those of you who have not seen it yet, this post is NOT a spoiler, so no worries.

Dark Knight was sold out in over 90% of Movie theaters this weekend and broke into the record books with a $155 million weekend! Fortunately, Miami was not sold out so my wife and I had a opportunity to catch a Saturday morning showing.

I went in with my doubts, don’t get me wrong I LOVED the ‘Batman Begins’, but all to often sequels disappoint-remember the sequel to the Matrix? I was also doubtful whether ‘Dark Knight’ could live up to all the hype.

Well, all I can say is that I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY! This is, by far, the best superhero movie I’ve ever seen.

An absolute masterpiece.

Heath Ledger, who played the Joker, freaked me out! He did an outstanding job playing this role. If you didn’t know already, Heath Ledger died of an ‘accidental overdoes of sleeping pills!’ Let’s be real, who accidentally overdoses on sleeping pills?

Sounds like he committed suicide to me. Some say he got too into character playing the Joker and it drove him nuts. I would say that he was probably unstable to begin with (just watch the movie and you’ll agree) and playing the Joker just pushed him over the edge.

Now that’s freaky!

Dark Knight will have your heart pounding till the very end as the Joker puts Gotham city through hell and forces Batman to do some soul searching. The story line is very well done, and the acting is some of the best I’ve seen in an action hero movie. It’s a MUST see.

Only downside to the movie was Batman’s fight scenes with the Joker. In reality, Batman should have been able to easily take out the Joker in a one on one situation. In the movie it’s pretty clear that Batman is holding back when fighting the Joker. I realize they wanted to show a tough fight between Batman and Joker, but it was TOTALLY unconvincing.

Here’s 3 reason I like Batman:

  1. He’s a ninja master. As a black belt in karate, I think this is very cool.
  2. He’s super rich and using that wealth to do good by fighting crime in a very cool way. Yes, deep down I secretly wish, once I’m as rich as Bruce Wayne, to master ninjitsu and fly around in $300k Bat suit! LOL
  3. He’s always in style. Whether he’s riding around in his Lamborgini, wearing his Italian cut suits at lavish parties, or fighting crime in his Batman suit.
